I finally managed to get XNA and to be honest. It rocks. Although I have not had much experience outside of Game Maker, Java and web-based languages, I managed to pick it up real quickly. It seems to be very versatile!
I decided to get XNA for the Dream.Build.Play compo. Since I cant continue with the Roach Toaster 2 beta/testing (due to internet issues), I decided to get my hands dirty on a game for that compo.
I have already started with a remake for Roach Toaster 1. I have been wanting to remake it, due to the possibility that people might play RT1 as an extended “demo” for RT2 and discover that it is not soo up to scratch compared to RT2. I will use all the latest sprites from RT2 and I will take into account all the feedback from RT1 for the remake.
Apart from the awesomeness that I can make games for the Xbox-360, there is still one thing that kinda sucks about XNA. You cant really share your game “properly”. The end-user needs the XNA framework (not too big) + he needs the .NET framework. The .NET framework comes as a standard in Vista, so hopefully that will help in the future.
Why cant they just make an “executable” option available? I assume its a bit more complicated than that. Oh well…
