Yes.

I hate it.

I hate it, because I know, as I am busy with it, I will never have such a great time in my life. I am not actually the person who is pessimistic or cynical, but somewhere deep down, there is some sense of truth in it. Without a doubt, when I start working and heading into the real world, I will try and make the best of each situation and enjoy it to the utmost.

It made me think. What is it that makes university so awesome? To me it is several things. The first obvious one, is the fact that all you REALLY have to do, is pass your subjects and get your degree. From then on, you can do anything you want.

As life goes on, more responsibilities pile up. That I can handle. I can easily see myself having “as” a great time with more responsibilities as with less.

University is a HUGELY conducive environment for a lot of things! Because of so many similar people, with the same goals, living next to each other, things happen! I get woken up at 9 on a Saturday only to discover that 13 people want to suddenly go on a wine tour. AWESOME!

Each day is exciting, because there are always people to do things with.

AND that. That is what I am afraid I will lose when I leave university. I am afraid I will lose the spontaneous nature of everyday life.

Considering that this is something I WANT outside of university, I decided to start a web project to solve just that problem. Coming ‘09.

Trent Reznor said this about school, and I think it applies to uni just as well:

"I hated school... I fucking hated it. The fact is that it revolved around something you didn't have access to. If you weren't on the football team, if you were in the band, you were a leper. When people say those are the best years of our lives, I want to scream."

University is just an extension of the same boring principles upon which school is based.

I can't wait for life beyond uni. I want to actually get my hands dirty and work and make music and record bands and perform. I can't wait to be free of class schedules and marks and tests and exams and just do the best I can do.

Sometimes I see it as a blessing as well actually. Where will you be this motivated again to do get up and do things?
Refer to my story, Isle Life. You are given an end (especially with you know... us) so use the chances to the max, and then when this period ends, you can start fresh.
A great opportunity to actually put into practice.

I love University :)

Last year (as a first year) its incredible to meet new people who share the same interests as you, I love the freedom, no one telling you what to do or where to go all you have to do is show up at a few lectures do a few tests write some exams, and the free time it allowed me to pursue my other passions was absolutely amazing!

I hated every minute of school from grade to grade 12 I was bored, not mentallky stimulated and wanted to be treated like an adult, and you get this at UCT

ah ok I love love love University the possibilities are endless, enjoying every second of it because its true we'll never be as free with as little responsibility and as much time to party as now!
