Why are people still afraid?
Yesterday during marketing class we happened to land upon the topic of online shopping. I overheard one girl behind me saying that she won’t shop online. She is still afraid and unsure of the whole process. She would rather go a shop and buy what she needs.
Now, I wonder why people are still afraid of shopping online? I’m talking about shopping from reputable sites with a proven track record. You rarely hear “stories” of people “losing” their money, so it can’t be because it is “unsafe”.
The only reason I can think of, is that the online shopping process isn’t very transparent. Your money goes from the bank where you don’t see it, across some cyberspacewebhighwaythingy to the seller. Compared to real life where you have the physical amount of money in your hand. When you pay, the “process” is complete and there is no way it can affect you afterwards.
Are these people becoming a minority? I don’t know. Are there still hosts of people afraid of online shopping? Perhaps the online shopping retailers should add more “visual” cues when buying online to simulate the real shopping experience. ie “money” going out of a hand to the “website”… but meh, that’s just kinda silly.
